Every leadership is saddled with certain limitations that must be
carefully dealt with so as to achieve its set objectives. Below are the key factors
that must be considered when addressing limitations:
Define the
goal: the first thing you must do is to define the goal for which you have been
nominated. This will help you identify the hindrances that may limit you from
accomplishing your goal.
Find the
right people: once you have clearly defined your goal and identified
its limitations, the next thing to do is to find the right people who can make
up for those limitations. Your ability to communicate your goal to all members
of the team will enable you get the right people in position. Every individual
must understand their role in the goal.
Commitment: the team
members must make a personal commitment to the goal. Commitment comes by the
person being able to identify the goal as a worthy course.
Willingness: the only
people you should incorporate into the group are those who are willing to do
the work. The choice of being part of a team is important. The person must see
your mission as critical and urgent.
Sense of
value: every member of the team must know that he is valued. People must be
appreciated for their unique role they play in the team.
Sense of
accomplishment: every member of the team must feel a sense of
accomplishment when the goal is achieved.
Your responsibility
therefore as a leader in team building is to identify these qualities in the
people you are calling into the group.
